The only known surviving print of this first film adaptation of Henry Murger’s novel, whose plot it followed closely. Adapted for the screen by major screenwriter of the period, Frances Marion. Alice Brady successfully made the transition to sound films and is best remembered for her flighty matron portrayals. Alberto Capellani was a prolific director in America and in his native France during the silent era.
